Life’s a beach …

…. when you live at the seaside.

Sunday – stretch your legs day, breath of fresh air day.  Starr Gate to St Annes – the beach is a happy place.  Families get together; dogs play; horses gallop; walkers contemplate; joggers jog; metal detectors treasure hunt; kiteboarder scatters a cloud of sanderlings; cameras click.  Imagine life without a beach ….

Just read in the Blackpool Gazette that,  “Blackpool Tower is set to be revealed in all its glory for the first time in seven years.”

Maintenance work on the steel structure has been ongoing since 2008, as a result of which the Tower has worn a collar of scaffolding and plastic in ever-decreasing stages since 2008.

“The scaffolding should be completely removed in time for Easter.”

Can’t wait to take photos of a naked Blackpool Tower.

The day I found Vera Duckworth on Blackpool beach

Image

Vera and Jack often visited Blackpool when they took a break from the Rovers.  Imagine my surprise when I found Vera face down on the beach. The poor love was covered in mud.  I gently washed her face to reveal Vera Duckworth in her prime.  Big bubble hairdo and even bigger smile, preserved between two pieces of perspex.  I wonder who is lamenting the loss of their Vera Duckworth key fob – and are they ever likely to own up?  You know where she is if you want her back!
