Along the banks of the River Ribble near Preston
As far as the eye can see
Where does it come from?
Rubbish as art?
- River Ribble – 75 miles long, rises in Yorkshire, flows through Lancashire into the Irish Sea
- The Ribble Way, long distance footpath, follows the course of the river through a picturesque and fascinating landscape.
- Don’t be put off by the snaps – it isn’t a rubbish walk by any stretch of the imagination
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see
Crying a song
Nothing but seabirds
All day long
Apologies to Irving Berlin for second verse lyric change. Seagulls/seabirds more appropriate in this neck of the woods than bluebirds.
Some survive – turnstones and redshanks
Some take photos
The lure of Blackpool whatever the weather
…. when you live at the seaside.
Sunday – stretch your legs day, breath of fresh air day. Starr Gate to St Annes – the beach is a happy place. Families get together; dogs play; horses gallop; walkers contemplate; joggers jog; metal detectors treasure hunt; kiteboarder scatters a cloud of sanderlings; cameras click. Imagine life without a beach ….
