Leg it to the corner shop for a white sliced and be back home before House of the Rising Sun had finished playing. At just under 5 minutes it was considered too long to be a successful single: in 1964 it reached No 1 and spent 12 weeks in the charts.

Rock Shop
Pungent peppermint permeating the air.  Allegedly, as a parting gesture, a sacked staff member rattled rock off the production line with two rude words through the centre instead of the customary Blackpool Rock!

Saturday morning cartoons.  Swooning at Cliff, “We’re all going on a summer holiday, no more working for a week or two …”
Woolworths
Selling everything anyone could need.
